Report an Issue

Found a broken video or have feedback? We're here to help improve the service.

How Reporting Works

Your feedback helps us identify and fix issues quickly. When you submit a report, we review it to understand what went wrong and work on a solution. Common issues include videos with captions that fail to generate transcripts, incorrect transcript content, or technical problems with the service.

After submitting a report, you'll receive a confirmation. We typically review reports within 24-48 hours. If you provided a video URL, we'll test it and work to resolve any issues. For general feedback or feature requests, we use your input to prioritize improvements.

Tip: Before reporting, make sure the video has captions enabled. You can check this by watching the video on YouTube and looking for the CC (closed captions) button in the player controls.

Include the video URL if reporting a specific transcript issue

Common issues to report:

  • Video has captions but transcript failed to generate: If you can see captions on YouTube but our service says they're unavailable, this might be a compatibility issue we need to fix.
  • Transcript contains errors or missing content: Sometimes YouTube's auto-generated captions have mistakes, but if manual captions are also showing errors, let us know.
  • Video is accessible but shows "no captions" error: This could indicate a problem with how we're detecting captions for certain video types or regions.
  • Search or download features not working: If you can view the transcript but can't search or download it, report this technical issue.
  • Feature requests or suggestions: We welcome ideas for improving the service, such as new export formats or additional features.

Troubleshooting Tips

Before reporting, try these steps:

  • Verify the video has captions enabled on YouTube (look for the CC button)
  • Check if the video is publicly accessible (not private or unlisted)
  • Try refreshing the page or clearing your browser cache
  • Test with a different video to see if the issue is specific to one video
  • Make sure you're using a supported browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge)

Understanding transcript limitations:

Our service relies on YouTube's caption data. If a video creator hasn't enabled captions (either manual or auto-generated), we cannot create a transcript. Some videos may have region restrictions or age restrictions that affect caption availability. If you're the video creator, you can enable captions in your YouTube Studio settings.
